I understand about a car being sold "AS IS" and that's why I didn't ask for my money back and only ask the guy to go half on the repairs. The seller promised me that the car only had 5K on the new engine rebuild and he knew I had to drive the vehicle back to Alabama over the weekend. I paid $10,000 for a car I believed had been rebuilt and the thing killed over in NM. The temp gauge never moved (i.e. never indicated the car was running hot). I've sold plenty of cars and had a person called me during the time they were trying to get the car home I would have gone half on the repairs, that's the stand-up thing to do. I wouldn't have flown to California to pick this car up if I wasn't very particular about my cars (i.e. very safe and responsible for their care).
